Bocce Australia has unveiled an exciting new initiative, the Bocce Team Challenge, aimed at attracting and engaging new players of all ages, genders and abilities to the fun sport of bocce.
This innovative program uses a modified version of the game of Volo and Raffa, allowing players to learn basic skills while using coloured balls for added excitement.
With the expertise of John Inglese, National Sports Development Officer at the time, the Bocce Team Challenge concept was officially launched to clubs at the national conference held in NSW last year. With the support of potential government funding, the program is set to roll out to participating clubs nationwide starting from mid-July.
The Veneto Club in Bulleen, Melbourne, has been instrumental in piloting the fourth season of the Bocce Team Challenge, providing valuable feedback to help finalise the program. Special thanks go to Sonya Velo, Rick Gatto, and Angela Sirianni for their dedication in implementing the pilot program.
Marketing for the Bocce Team Challenge has been expertly designed and developed by our very own Australian Junior athlete Tommy Campbell as part of his university studies. With a national launch scheduled for July, the program is poised to make a significant impact on the bocce community.
