Cooma Bocce Sporting Club update
On February 16, the Cooma Bocce Club kicked off its 2025 season with a fun-filled Briscola event, marking the first competition of the year.
Participants enjoyed a day of camaraderie and competition, and the event was made even more special by the delicious lunch prepared by chefs John Solari and Giovanna Pevere. Thanks to the dedicated team of helpers and all the players who contributed to the success of the day, the event was a resounding success.
The winners of the Briscola competition were John Solari and Paola Stefani, with David Pevere and Giovanna Pevere finishing as runners-up. Michael and Samuel Pevere claimed third place. Thanks to Eileen and Daniel Pevere, and Brett and Loris Stefani for joining in on the fun. Congratulations to all the winners and participants for making it a memorable day!
Looking ahead, the club’s next competition will be the Men’s Singles, scheduled for March 2nd. All members, along with newcomers, are invited to participate. Those interested in joining the event or becoming a member can contact [email protected] for more details.
In addition to the exciting events, Cooma Bocce Club is pleased to announce the new committee members for the 2025 season. This group will manage the day-to-day operations of the Cooma Bocce Sporting Club Inc. and serve as interim caretakers of the Cooma/ACT Bocce Federation.
The newly appointed committee members are:

- Secretary: Samuel Pevere
- Treasurer: Paola Stefani
- Bar Persons: Loris Stefani and Michael Pevere
- Games Organiser: Daniel Pevere
- Social Secretary: John Solari
- Publicity Officer: Samuel Pevere.
The committee members are looking forward to a prosperous year ahead and are committed to ensuring the continued success and growth of the club.
Cooma Bocce Club also offers fantastic facilities for any occasion. With an operating bar, kitchen, function rooms, and Bocce courts, it is the perfect venue for holding club meetings, team bonding, corporate days, family functions, or simply enjoying a fun day out.

South Australia update
Michele Simeone Memorial Cup
On Sunday, February 2, the Campania Club hosted the first bocce competition for 2025, the Michele Simeone Memorial Cup. The late Michele Simeone played bocce from 1964 to 1998 at various locations. In the early days, when there were no clubs, bocce was played at a private residence on Barnes Rd.
Tony, Aggie and Elio, the sons of the late Michele Simeone attended lunch with their family and friends. Thank you to the Simeone family for your ongoing sponsorship, and the cherries served at lunch time. As always, thank you to the volunteers of the Campania Club for the lunch and running the competition. Thank you to the ladies who provided morning tea.
The prizes were presented by Tony Simeone. Among the winners were Domenico Crisci and Giuseppe Musolino – our fabulous 90-plus players!

Join Sicilia Social and Sports Club for bocce fun
The 2025 season of bocce is now in full swing. All happy to be back on the courts!
Come and join us at the Sicilia Social and Sports Club, 45A O G Rd in Klemzig, on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm, and on Friday mornings from 8.30am to 11am. No experience required.
We also celebrated Diodoro Iuliano’s 90th birthday. Diodoro has been playing bocce for about a year and is a keen participant. Diodoro also enjoys the social aspect of bocce.
