The Australian junior team is set to compete in the World Junior Championships in Puerto Rico from December 4-8, showcasing the nation’s emerging talent in the sport of bocce. The team features promising athletes in two categories: Under 18 and Under 23.
In the Under 18 category, the team includes Chiara Tomasi, Melissa Danelutti, and Michael Pevere. These young athletes will participate in a variety of events in the specialised Volo code of bocce, including Double, Single, Precision Shooting, Progressive Shooting, and the Double Rapid Relay. Their rigorous training and dedication are preparing them to take on the best junior shooters from around the globe.
Representing the Under 23 category are Aaron O’Callaghan and Max Tricarico. They will compete in events such as Double, Combined, Precision Shooting, Progressive Shooting, and Double Rapid Relay. Both athletes have demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, making them strong contenders in their respective events.
Under the guidance of the national coaching team, including head coach Stefano Chiandotto and Australian Junior Co-ordinator Linda Chiandotto, collaboratively with the mentorship of the Australian Junior Squad Coaches, David Pevere and Kerrie Reitano, the team is well-positioned to push boundaries and achieve remarkable results on the international stage. As the team finalises their preparations, they are dedicated on honing their skills and building camaraderie ahead of the championships.
