Results for Denis Ravera International Bocce Challenge 2022

It has been a wonderful experience  for the junior bocce team as they competed in Monaco at the Denis Ravera International Bocce Challenge 2022.

The team of Nina Chiandotto, Chiara Tomasi, Michael Pevere, Ava Tomasi, Ayden Respondino, Tommy Campbell – and the last-minute inclusion of Melissa Danelutti and Lara O’Callaghan – did well against some of Europe’s top bocce teams.

The young and inexperienced team did Australia proud as they were competitive in all events. Although there were no podium placings, Australia ranked well with Michael Pevere finishing the highest ranked Australian player, with a 5th placing in the U18 Precision Throw, narrowly missing out and a bit unlucky with those three pointers at the end of the event.

Overall, an excellent performance by Michael and the rest of the team. This was reinforced by the coaches Stefano Chiandotto and Kerrie Reitano who were very happy the way the team were competitive and performed on and off the courts. Well done!

Hopefully you all enjoyed Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico’s Monaco Bocce updates. His bocce blogs reached more than 20,000 views and has propelled the sport into new spaces never seen in Australia. Dipper, having experienced the Bocce International in Monaco firsthand, is ‘pumped’ and is full of ideas for Bocce Australia, with some exciting events planned in 2023.

Team Australia is now in Montbrison, France for the  World Junior U18 and U23 Bocce Championships and will be competing against 27 other nations.  The team consists of Lara O’Callaghan, Melissa Danelutti, Aaron O’Callaghan, Max Tricarico and Carlo Bunin. We wish them well as they prepare for these next exciting championships.
