Golden glory for Australia's Bocce Raffa team

Australia’s Bocce Raffa team has achieved outstanding success, securing three gold medals and one bronze medal at the recent championships, earning Australia a coveted spot in the next World Bocce-Raffa Championships.

Congratulations to our medallists:

  • Silvio Bruzzese and Tina D’Urbano: Silver in the Mixed Doubles.
  • Diane Penney: Bronze in the Women’s Precision Throw and Gold in the Women’s Doubles with partner Tina D’Urbano.
  • Silvio Bruzzese and Joe Rozzo: Gold in the Men’s Doubles.

The team was expertly led by coach Franco Fava, whose guidance and dedication were instrumental in the team’s preparation – particularly for Diane and Tina, who honed their skills at the Italian Australian Sporting Club of Morwell. The club continues to be a beacon of excellence, producing numerous state, national, and international bocce champions.

Equally, Joe Rozzo and Silvio Bruzzese from Club Marconi in NSW have upheld their club’s rich bocce legacy with this remarkable performance.

Bocce Australia is immensely proud of these achievements and congratulates the players, their families, and their supporting clubs for the unwavering support provided during their preparations.

This success is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and passion of everyone involved.

Starting 2025, Bocce Raffa and Bocce Australia, with their member states, will launch a series of training programs to increase participation in this version of bocce sport.

The first of many training programs is set for Saturday, January 4 and Sunday, January 5, 2025. It will be held in Melbourne at the Lazio Marche Club, Reservoir.

If interested in attending, please register your interest by sending your details to Bocce Australia’s email address: [email protected]

Again, congratulations to the entire team on this exceptional achievement.
