Tradition and fun: Beach bocce in Fraser Island with Mario De Marco

Beach bocce is a fun way to enjoy playing bocce with friends in a relaxed setting on velvet sandy beaches while soaking up the warm sun with friends and family.

For Mario De Marco and his group of cousins, this has been a cherished tradition for nearly three decades. Every time they venture out for a fishing trip to Fraser Island, now known as K’gari, beach bocce is always on the agenda.

Mario said: “It can be played on soft or hard sand with many obstacles at times, but we always have a great time”.

On this particular occasion, Mario took on the role of photographer, capturing the essence of their beach bocce tradition. The photo showcases four members of the group of seven, including a good friend, Mario’s cousin Vince, Vince’s brother-in-law, and his nephew.

From left to right in the photo, we have John, Vince, Tony, and Nick, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and fun that beach bocce brings to their gatherings on Fraser Island.
