South Australia update
On Sunday, July 7, 2024, the Campania Club hosted players from the Campania Club, Fogolar Furlan Club and the South Australian Bocce Federation to once again participate in the Amicizia Competition, the second for this year.
We sincerely thank Steve Maglieri who named and sponsors the competition. Fourteen duos took part in the competition. Players from the three clubs enjoyed a pleasant day together, playing the sport they love.
It was a pleasure to have among us Miranda Sella Gianot, Domenico Crisci and Giuseppe Musolino, ninety or over years of age. Bocce is a sport for all ages and fitness levels.
Serafino wine was presented to the winners by Steve, who was also a first prize winner. There was also a surprise cash prize for all the winners. All other participants each received a bottle of wine, and wine was donated for lunch. Thank you once again Steve Maglieri for your generosity.
Thank you to Gennaro Galasso and the other volunteers of the Campania Club for hosting the competition, and thank you to the two Marias for organising the wonderful lunch. Thank you to the ladies who provided morning tea.
The winners of the second Amicizia Competition are:
- First: Steve Maglieri and Erminio Ranaldo
- Second: Lidia Addabbo and Angelo Addabbo
- Third: Rosa Maglieri and Raffaele Zollo
- Fourth: Miranda Sella Gianot and Jack Daniel

Exciting news for Bocce Victoria: Introducing the Inclusive UCAN2 Program – coming soon!
We are thrilled to announce the launch of UCAN2 (Uniting Communities through Active Networks), a pioneering pilot program designed to foster inclusivity and community engagement through recreational activities.
UCAN2 is set to begin later this year. Thanks to the generous support of Bocce Australia, Darebin Council, Manningham Council, the Department of Community Sport, and the Minister Hon. Ros Spence for providing the opportunity for Bocce Victoria to roll out such an integral community program, as well as the Office of Shaun Leane MP.
UCAN2 aims to create a welcoming environment for children and adults with varying abilities, including those with autism, Asperger’s, sensory issues, and other special needs. Through weekly gatherings featuring bocce, light refreshments, and support from relevant speakers, UCAN2 offers participants and their families a supportive space for bonding, fun, and mutual understanding. This initiative is anticipated to benefit about 250 community members, enhancing their holistic wellbeing.
The program, which will run in the new year (dates to be released soon) at Veneto Club in Bulleen and Lazio Marche United Club in Reservoir, focuses on breaking down barriers to participation in recreational activities. It addresses common challenges faced by individuals with special needs and aims to build confidence and social connections. By incorporating mental health support and sensory-friendly modifications, UCAN2 ensures a positive and inclusive experience for all participants.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Bocce Australia, Darebin Council, Manningham Council, the Department of Community Sport, and the Minister Hon. Ros Spence for providing the opportunity for Bocce Victoria to roll out such an integral community program, as well as the Office of Shaun Leane MP. Their contributions have been instrumental in making UCAN2 a reality.
The project team is diligently preparing for the program roll-out, with a vision to create lasting impacts and a strong sense of belonging for all involved. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the program’s commencement in the new year. Together, we can make a difference through the power of sport and community.

Kyabram update
What a great night held at the Kyabram 50th Anniversary Night. We are very grateful that most of our foundation members were able to attend the night. All our volunteers, who are usually all hands on, enjoyed themselves, as the evening was fully catered for and the bar duty covered.
We loved to have our local councillor and Sonia Fava, National Sports Director, give excellent speeches. The presentation by Sonia was a big surprize, our biggest thanks to Bocce Australia for the awards. We loved to get congratulations and best wishes received from Raymond and Lina Cher former Bocce Australia President and Women’s Coordinator.
The following day we held a Raffa Tournament, Kyabram versus Morwell. Mirrella Alesi and Maria Maselli won the day by defeating Joe and Maria Greco in a great grand final display. Third place went to Anna and Felici Prezioso, and fourth to Graham and Monica King (new players).
The evening was a huge success, with everybody dancing and enjoying the music provided by Ricky Brun, who also played songs for the young children and got them dancing.
