It might look like it’s all champagne and canapés however, being the delegate for Australia has been busy, involved problem solving and a lot of preparation, but been an absolute pleasure and privilege.
The Australian team has been a delight to manage at the World Championships and we have been recognised by FIB and the Saint Vulbas organisers for our contribution and conduct during the tournament.
Thank you to Frederic and the FIB committee for an amazing championship, and to all the Saint Vulbas organisers and volunteers. Christophe and the technical committee have been nothing but professional and organised.
I appreciate being invited to assist the FIB with the event protocols on behalf of Bocce Australia.
I personally want to thank coach Tony Palermo, the Australian players, and Bocce Australia for this unforgettable opportunity.
– Sonia Fava, Bocce Australia Delegate for 2024.
We thank Tony Palermo, coach of our Australian Men’s and Mixed team for this year’s 2024 World Championships.
The hard work and dedication invested in preparing the team for not only these championships but also Asia Oceania is evident by the respect and loyalty shown by the team and their results achieved.
We appreciate your time and expertise shared and your ongoing contribution to our sport.
Thank you for your leadership and representing Australia at these World Championships.
Stefano Chiandotto is a very popular and well-respected player by fellow international coaches and players alike.
Although the results did not favour a win for Stefano in his singles matches, the opportunity to be playing the sport he loves, in world class facilities at a major World Championship event is an exceptional achievement.
Thank you, Stefano, for being a great ambassador for our sport and representing Australia in this year’s World Championships.
Thank you, Dino Mikolic and Angelo Parisi, for representing our country in this great sport of bocce.
Making it through to the doubles quarter-finals and competing against Slovenia was a highlight. Although defeated in this game, your ethics and sportsmanship has not gone unnoticed by the world organisation and fellow competitors.
We thank you for your hard work and dedication and congratulate you on your achievement in participating at the 2024 World Men’s and Mixed Championships.
Daniel Samsa was sensational in the Precision Throw competing against the World Champion Argentinian player. Daniel kept the pressure on, and the scores were even throughout the match.
The ultimate score was an even 20 for each country. A nail-biting playoff for a spot in the semi-finals was required, with the first player to miss eliminated.
Unfortunately, Daniel was unsuccessful, but his performance did not disappoint, and he was a great challenger for Argentina, who fell to his knees with relief he made it through.
Also, Daniel created a new Australian record with a score of 44 hits in progressive throw and he and sibling Nicole Samsa finished sixth in the Mixed Rapid Relay.
A great result for the Samsa siblings and what great representatives for Australia. Well, done Daniel and Nicole – we are so proud of you and we thank you.
