On behalf of Bocce Australia and my executive board of directors, I would like to thank all those involved with the French Bocce Tour Downunder. The event was a remarkable success.
Jean-Yves, Pauline and Frederic were wonderful in their sharing of their knowledge and teaching the many that took part.
A big thank you to you, Jean-Yves, and your team.
Commencing in Brisbane with vibrant energy, the enthusiasm only escalated as we traversed Sydney and Melbourne. Each city witnessed palpable support and excitement from clubs and participants alike, fostering an environment ripe for learning and development.
Our players seized the invaluable opportunity to learn from the French coach and team, elevating their skills to unprecedented heights. The dedication showcased in coaching sessions, group exercises, and one-on-one training hasn’t gone unnoticed. These advancements aren’t merely improvements in technique; they signify significant milestones in our pursuit of excellence in bocce.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to Sonia Fava, our Bocce Australia Sports Development Director, as the mastermind in making this a reality, along with our devoted volunteers across three states and eight clubs, whose coordination and efforts made this event an unforgettable experience.
It is thanks to all of those that were involved, especially those working long hours, often late at night after having just finished their day job, to arrange the logistics, the venues, and the marketing plus much more.
To our club delegates, coaches, volunteers, life members, bocce members and athletes, thanks for supporting this event and helping to promote to make this a big success. Special thanks to the many unnamed that worked extremely long hours helping Sonia and others late into the night and into weekends.
And finally, a big thank you to the parents of the juniors who supported them as they travelled to be part of this bocce life experience, at one of the many venues. The juniors are our future, and it is imperative that we support them for the growth and longevity of the sport of bocce and it is the parents that make that possible.
And before closing, to the sponsors – who without their financial support this could not have been hosted. A big thank you to Sports Ministry of France, The French Boules Federation(FFSB), the Federation Internationale de Boules(FIB), Sport Australia, Bonfood, Macron sportswear, Farm Vigano, and the clubs – from Queensland: Newmarket bocce Club and Redlands Sporting Club; from New South Wales: Liverpool Catholic Club and Club Marconi; and from Victoria: the Furlan Club, Morwell Club, Casa D’Abruzzo Club and the Veneto Club.
Through collective endeavour and shared passion, and working as the ‘one team, bocce one!’ we celebrate these achievements today.
Always in bocce,
Frank Funari – President, Bocce Australia.
Australia holds Asia Oceania men’s, women’s, and mixed bocce championships
As the Asia Oceania Bocce Championships are fast approaching, news has made it through that unfortunately only Japan is able to participate this year. India and Iran unfortunately had issues with their visas.
Nonetheless, the game must go on. Especially our showcase friendly playoff between Australia and Japan.
